Donal Gerard Lenihan
Donald Gerard Lenihan was born in Cork on 12 September 1959 and educated at Christian Brothers College and University College, Cork. He played at lock for the Constitution club in the city and worked in commerce and banking before becoming a financial consultant. Donal Lenihan gained 52 caps for Ireland between 1981 and 1992 and was captain in 19 internationals. In 1983 he joined the British Isles in New Zealand as a replacement and played in two provincial fixtures. Six years later he again toured, this time as an original selection, and played four games in Australia and was captain against Queensland B, Australian Capital Territory, and NSW Country XV. In 2001 he was manager of the British Isles team in Australia. He captained the Barbarians in the Herbert Waddell Memorial Match against Glasgow Academicals in 1988 and served on the Barbarian committee from 1998 until 2006.
