Peter Wyatt Kininmonth

Peter Wyatt Kininmonth was born in Bebington on 23 June 1924 and educated at Sedbergh School and Oxford University where he gained Blues in 1947 and 1948. He worked as a shipping agent and later as an insurance broker. He played at No 8 for Richmond. His 21 caps for Scotland between 1949 and 1954 included eight matches as captain and a famous long-range drop goal from a mark against Wales in 1951. A year earlier he had toured New Zealand and Australia with the British Isles, playing in 16 matches, including three tests, and the captaincy in two fixtures against West Coast and South Canterbury. Peter Kininmonth died on 5 October 2007, aged 83.
