Michael Joseph Kiernan

Michael Joseph Kiernan was born in Cork on 17 January 1961 and educated in the city at Presentation Brothers College and University College. He played at centre for Dolphin and was a member of the Munster XV that defeated Australia in 1981. He also represented the province against a later Wallabies' side in 1984 and the All Blacks in 1989. Between 1982 and 1991 he played for Ireland in 43 internationals and set a new points' record of 308 for his country. On the 1983 British Isles' tour of New Zealand he played in 10 matches, including three tests, and scored two tries and a drop goal. Michael Kiernan is the nephew of T J Kiernan [q.v.].
