Maurice Ignatius Keane

Maurice Ignatius Keane was born on 27 July 1948 in Currow, Co Kerry, and educated at St Brendan's College, Killarney, and University College, Dublin. He gained a master's degree in microbiology and worked for the ministry of agriculture in Dublin. He played at lock for UCD and Lansdowne and in 51 internationals for Ireland between 1974 and 1984. He was a member of the Munster team that beat New Zealand in 1978. He also represented the province against earlier All Blacks' touring teams in 1973 and 1974, Argentina in 1973, Australia in 1975, and Romania in 1980. In 1977 he toured New Zealand with the British Isles and played in 11 matches, including the first test. Moss Keane died on 5 October 2010, aged 62.
