Stephen Thomas Jones

Stephen Thomas Jones (known as Staff) was born in Ynysybwl on 4 January 1959 and educated at Mill Street Comprehensive School, Pontypridd. He worked for the National Coal Board and played at prop for Pontypool, including the matches against Australia in 1981 and 1984 and New Zealand in 1989. In 1980 he toured North America with Wales and played in the non-cap internationals against USA and Canada. After gaining several selections for Wales B, including against Australia in 1981, he won the first of 10 full caps for Wales against Scotland in 1983. Later that year he toured New Zealand with the British Isles and made 13 appearances, including three tests.
