Ian Donald Jones

Ian Donald Jones was born in Whangerai, New Zealand, on 17 April 1967, and educated at Kamo High School. He played for the local club and also North Auckland and North Harbour at provincial level. In 1993 he captained North Auckland against the British Isles. Between 1989 and 1999 he played 105 matches for New Zealand, including 79 tests, a new record for a lock. A popular Barbarian, his 13 matches for the Club were all against international opposition, another record. Ian Jones also captained the Barbarians against Ireland in 2000 and Scotland in 2002.
