John Philip Horrocks-Taylor

John Philip Horrocks-Taylor was born in Halifax on 27 October 1934 and educated at Heath Grammar School and Cambridge University where he gained Blues in 1956 and 1957. He also played for the University against Australia in 1957. He played his club rugby for Halifax, Wasps, Leicester and Middlesborough. In 1960 he played for North-Eastern Counties against South Africa. Phil Horrocks-Taylor won nine caps at fly-half for England between 1958 and 1964. In 1959 he joined the British Isles tour of Australasia as a replacement and played in five matches, including the third test against New Zealand. He was a company director in the building industry.
