David Hewitt

David Hewitt was born in Belfast on 9 September 1939 and educated at the RBAI and Queen's University where he studied law and qualified as a solicitor. He played at centre for the University and Instonians and for Ulster against Australia (1957), South Africa (1961) and New Zealand (1964). He scored 16 points in 18 internationals for Ireland between 1958 and 1965 and in 1959 played for Scotland & Ireland against England & Wales in the Twickenham Jubilee Match. He twice toured with the British Isles - to Australasia in 1959 when he was the youngest member of the team and distinguished himself as top scorer with 122 points in 18 appearances including five tests, and South Africa in 1962 where he scored two tries and played in seven games, including one test.
