Craig Barry Hawkins was born in Morriston on 4 July 1979 and educated at Gowerton Comprehensive School.. He played at hooker for Dunvant, Swansea, the Scarlets and, from 2004/05, Llanelli where he played over 150 games and was club captain. He also played for Hawke's Bay in New Zealand. He played for Wales Sevens and at all age levels from under-16s to under-21s.
