Derrick Grant

Derrick Grant was born in Hawick on 19 April 1938 and educated at Hawick High School before working in the hosiery industry. He was the brother of T.O. Grant [q.v.]. Playing at wing-forward for Hawick he gained 14 caps for Scotland between 1965 and 1968 and later became an assistant coach to the national XV. In 1966 he toured Australasia with the British Isles, playing in 10 matches. He was a late call-up for the Barbarians against New Zealand in 1967 when he replaced the original selection, J.P. Fisher [q.v.].
