John Frank Finlan

John Frank Finlan was born in Warwick on 9 September 1941 and educated at Saltley Grammar School in Birmingham. He was employed as a works study officer in Birmingham. He played at fly-half for Old Saltleians, Coventry and Moseley and in the County Championship for North Midlands. In 1967 against Australia and 1972 against New Zealand he dropped goals for the Midlands Counties West in two famous victories. Between 1967 and 1973 John Finlan played in 13 internationals for England and dropped three goals. In 1967 he also toured Canada with an England XV.
