Anthony George Faulkner

Anthony George Faulkner was born in Newport on 27 February 1941 and educated at St Mary's School. Having originally worked in the steel industry he later became a successful brewery representative. He played for Newport Saracens and Cross Keys but most famously for Pontypool where he packed down at loose-head prop alongside R.W.Windsor and G.Price - the Pontypool Front Row. He first played for Wales a few weeks short of his 34th birthday in 1975 and went on to gain 19 caps, his last in 1979 aged 38. In 1977 Charlie Faulkner joined the British Isles tour of New Zealand as a replacement and made three appearances, including the final match against Fiji alongside Windsor and Price. He later coached Newport and Cardiff.
