John Anthony Eales

John Anthony Eales was born in Brisbane on 17 June 1970 and educated at Marist Brothers College in Ashgrove and at Queensland University. He played at lock for the Brothers club and at state level for Queensland. John Eales was first capped for Australia at the age of 21 in 1991 and went on to captain his country in a record 55 of his 86 tests before retiring in 2001. His three Rugby World Cup campaigns included the tournament victories of 1991, as a rookie, and 1999 as the triumphant captain.
