John Douglas

John Douglas was born on Woolwich on 18 December 1934 and educated at Stewart's College. He played at lock and in the back row for Stewart's College Former Pupils. He made three appearances for the combined Glasgow & Edinburgh XV against international touring teams - at lock against South Africa in 1960 and New Zealand in 1963 and at No 8 against Australia in 1966. His 12 caps for Scotland between 1961 and 1963 featured 11 at No 8 and one against England in 1961 at lock. On the 1962 British Isles' tour of South Africa he played in 10 matches. John Douglas was a businessman and in 1979 his horse Rubstic won the Grand National at Aintree.
