Wade Anthony Dooley

Wade Anthony Dooley was born in Warrington on 2 October 1957 and educated at Beaumont Secondary School before becoming a police officer. Apart from a short spell with Fylde, he played all his club rugby for Preston Grasshoppers. A towering lock forward, Wade Dooley gained 55 caps for England between 1985 and 1993. In 1989 his six games on the British Isles tour of Australia included the second and third tests. A second Lions' tour to New Zealand in 1993 was cut short after three appearances when he chose to return home because of a family illness.
