Paul William Dodge

Paul William Dodge was born in Leicester on 26 May 1958 and educated at the Wreake Valley Upper School. He worked in the family bookbinding business. A long-serving centre for Leicester Tigers, he scored 567 points in 18 seasons from 1975 and captained the club in 1987/88 when they won the national cup final and later coached the under-21 squad. Paul Dodge's 32 caps between 1978 and 1985 made him England's most capped centre; he also led the side in eight internationals. In 1980 he joined the British Isles tour of South Africa as a replacement and played in five matches, including the final two tests. In 1985 he captained the Barbarians in the Mobbs Memorial Match. He is the father of O.P.Dodge [q.v.]
