John MacKenzie Dee
John MacKenzie Dee was born in Hartlepool on 22 October 1938 and educated at Henry Smith School before becoming a teacher. He played club rugby for Hartlepool Rovers and in October 1965 was in the Rovers' XV for the 75th anniversary match against the Barbarians. A popular Barbarian in his own right, John Dee's nine appearances included three Easter tours and the match against Canada in 1962. He gained two caps at centre for England in 1962 and 1963 and toured South Africa with the British Isles in 1962, playing in 12 games and scoring three tries.
