Thomas David

Erroneously attributed with a middle name 'Patrick' in some works of reference, Thomas David was born in Pontypridd on 2 April 1949 where he was educated at Hawthorn School. He played most of his club rugby at flanker for his home town club, apart from a spell at Llanelli which included the famous victory over the All Blacks in October 1972. Three months later he was called into the Barbarians XV at the eleventh hour and shared in another triumph over New Zealand. Tommy David gained four caps for Wales between 1973 and 1976 and in 1974 scored five tries in nine matches for the British Isles on the tour of South Africa. His 19 games for the Barbarians included the captaincy against Newport in 1980. In 1982 he played rugby league for Cardiff and gained two league caps for Wales. He is a company director.
