Gerald Thomas Dancer
Gerald Thomas Dancer was born on 15 January 1911. Known familiarly as 'Beef' he was a stalwart member of the East Midlands pack, playing at prop in five consecutive Mobbs Memorial Matches against the Barbarians between 1935 and 1939. After an eight-year interval he reappeared as a lock in the 1947 match at his home club in Bedford. Another unusual fact was that he played 15 matches, including three tests, for the British Isles in South Africa in 1938 but was never capped by England.
