Ronald C. Cowan

Ronald Charles Cowan was born in Selkirk on 26 November 1941 and educated at Selkirk High School. He played club rugby for Selkirk and in 1960 for the South of Scotland against South Africa. He gained the first of his five caps for Scotland at centre against France in 1961 and four more on the wing in 1962. On the British Isles' tour of South Africa in 1962 he scored five tries in 10 appearances, including one in the fourth test. The following year Ronnie Cowan transferred to Leeds rugby league club and played for them in the Challenge Cup Final at Wembley in 1971.
