Malcolm Leonard Collins
Malcolm Leonard Collins was born in Newport in 1928 and educated at Belle Vue Central School and Newport Technical College. He worked as a maintenance foreman and later manager for British Rail. He played at lock for Newport between 1947 and 1949 before moving to Cardiff where he played 306 matches over the course of ten seasons, including the victory over New Zealand in 1953. He was Cardiff captain in 1955/56 and in later years was the club chairman. He also played for two seasons with Ebbw Vale, where he was also captain. Though he played in three international trials, he never gained a Wales' cap. Malcolm Collins died in December 1985, aged 57.
