Angus Cameron

Angus Cameron was born in Glasgow on 24 June 1929 and educated at Glasgow High School He worked as a wholesale grocer. He gained the first of his 17 caps for Scotland as an 18-year-old centre in 1948 and went on to captain his country nine times from three different positions - centre, fly-half and full-back. In 1955 he was vice-captain of the British Isles in South Africa and scored 44 points in nine appearances, including two tests, before injury ended his tour. He had captained the Lions' twice in provincial matches against Northern Universities and South-West Africa. In 1953 he played for Glasgow & Edinburgh against New Zealand. Angus Cameron died on 1 January 1991, aged 61.
