James Hamilton Calder

James Hamilton Calder was born in Haddington on 20 August 1957 and educated at Knox Academy, Melville College, and Heriot-Watt University. He worked as an export executive and played at flanker for Stewart's Melville. He made several appearances for Edinburgh against international touring teams - New Zealand in 1979 and 1983, Romania in 1981, Australia in 1988 and in the victories over Fiji in 1982 and Japan in 1986. Between 1981 and 1985 he scored three tries in 27 internationals for Scotland. He also scored three tries in seven matches, including one test, for the British Isles on the 1983 tour of New Zealand. Jim Calder is the twin brother of Finlay Calder [q.v.].
