Gordon Lamont Brown

Gordon Lamont Brown was born in Troon on 1 November 1947 and educated at Marr College. He was the brother of P C Brown [q.v.]. In 1972 they played together for the Barbarians in the centenary match against Cambridge University. Gordon Brown played club rugby for West of Scotland and between 1969 and 1976 gained 30 caps at lock for Scotland. He went on three British Isles' tours between 1971 and 1977, playing in 40 matches, including eight tests. On the 1974 tour to South Africa he scored eight tries in 12 appearances. Gordon Brown died on 19 March 2001, aged 53.
