David Onllwyn Brace

David Onllwyn Brace was born in Gowerton on 16 November 1932 and educated at Gowerton Grammar School and Cardiff University before going to Oxford University. He won Blues in the Varsity matches of 1955 and 1956 and was captain in the latter. An inventive scrum-half he played for Aberavon and Swansea and was with Newport when he gained the first of his nine international caps in 1956. He later captained Llanelli for two seasons from 1959 and led Wales on two occasions in 1960 and 1961. Onllwyn Brace was employed as an education officer before becoming Head of Sport for BBC Wales. He later developed a television production company in Cardiff. Onllwyn Brace died on 4 July 2013 aged 80.
