Ben Austin Blair

Ben Austin Blair was born in Westport on 26 March 1979 and educated at St Andrews College, Christchurch. He played club rugby for Marist Albion, provincially as a full-back with Canterbury and Super Rugby for both the Crusaders and the Highlanders. In 2001 he toured Europe with New Zealand and on his All Blacks' debut scored 38 points, including three tries, in the 43-30 defeat of Ireland A. He also scored 20 points against Scotland A and gained his first test cap against Scotland at Murrayfield. He toured again the following year and took his test caps to four in the match against Wales. In 2005 he joined Cardiff Blues.
