Jean-Pierre Bastiat

Jean-Pierre Bastiat was born in Dax on 11 April 1949. He played at lock and number 8 for Dax and worked as an insurance agent. Between 1969 and 1978 he gained 32 caps for France, the first nine at lock before he moved to number 8 where he formed a formidable back row unit with J-P. Rives and J-C.Skrela [q.v.].In 1977 the three were invited together to play for the Barbarians against the British Isles. Jean-Pierre Bastiat captained France in the four matches of the 1978 Five Nations' Championship.
