Stephen Bainbridge

Stephen Bainbridge was born in Newcastle on 7 October 1956 and educated at John Marlay School and Alsager College where he qualified as a teacher. He played at lock for Fylde, Gosforth and Orrell and represented the North against Australia in 1981 (as a replacement), Fiji in 1982, New Zealand in 1983 and Romania in 1984. After playing for England under-23 he gained 18 full caps between 1982 and 1987. On the British Isles' tour to New Zealand in 1983, Steve Bainbridge played in 11 matches, including two tests.
