Alan Ashcroft

Alan Ashcroft was born in St Helens on 21 August 1930 and educated at Cowley Grammar School. He taught art at Liverpool College and played at No 8 for Waterloo where he was also club captain. Between 1956 and 1959 he gained 16 caps for England and also played for England & Wales against Scotland & Ireland in 1959. Earlier that year he had toured Australasia with the British Isles, playing in 18 matches, including two tests.
