Gary Armstrong

Gary Armstrong was born in Edinburgh on 30 September 1966 and educated at Dunfermline High School and Jedburgh Grammar School. He worked as a lorry driver. He captained Jed-Forest in 1990/91 and later played for Newcastle Falcons and the Borders. He captained Scotland in eight of his 51 internationals between 1988 and 1999, scored five tries, and was his country's most-capped scrum-half. In 1989 he toured Australia with the British Isles and was top try scorer with five in as many appearances.
