William Andrew Anderson

William Andrew Anderson was born in Sixmilebridge on 3 April 1955 and educated at Omagh Academy before qualifying as a P.E. teacher. He played club rugby at lock and back row for Dungannon and also in both positions in 27 internationals for Ireland between 1984 and 1990. He captained Ireland in three matches in 1989/90. He later became a coach with the Scottish Rugby Union. Willie Anderson's 10 appearances for the Barbarians included the game against Australia in 1984 and the captaincy against Leicester in 1986 and 1987 and Bradford & Bingley and Newport in 1990.
