Robert Angus Ackerman
Robert Angus Ackerman was born in Ebbw Vale on 2 March 1961 and educated at Christ College, Brecon, and St Mary's College, Twickenham. He worked as a teacher and in computer sales and played club rugby for London Welsh, Cardiff and Newport. Between 1980 and 1985 he gained 22 caps for Wales, eight on the wing and 14 at centre. In 1983 he toured New Zealand with the British Isles and played in 10 games, including two tests. Bob Ackerman's 10 appearances for the Barbarians included three tries against Penarth in 1982 and the match against Australia in 1984. In 1986 he joined Whitehaven rugby league club and later played for Leeds and Salford and five times for Wales as a forward.
