Barbarian F.C will make history later this month when they take on the Springboks for the first time on South Africa soil. Whilst the game in Cape Town on Saturday 28 June is a first, there is a long and proud history between the famous invitational club and the World Champions.
That history stretches all the way back to the first clash between the sides in 1952. In all, the Barbarians have won four of the eight meetings between the two sides, with the Springboks picking up three victories.
The most recent outing between the two sides was an epic 31 v 31 draw at Wembley back in 2016. Highlights of that encounter are worth a watch, to whet the appetite!
Later this month Robbie Deans’ squad, which already features test centurions Peter O’Mahony, Conor Murray, Cian Healy and Sam Cane as well as All Black Shannon Frizell, will assemble in Cape Town for the fixture.
Tickets for the clash this month – priced from R250 – are exclusively available from Ticketmaster.
