For this poignant memorial match it was just like the old days on the sodden Rec, playing with a leather ball, but in this case Imperial Leather. In a first half of more spills than thrills it was the Services who took the honours, despite two straightforward penalty misses. But in the second half, when the replacements come on, it was the visitors who showed much more strength in depth and eventually ran out comfortable winners.
Barbarians tries were scored by Josh Drauniniu (2), Jon Edwards, Charlie Walker-Blair and Alan Brown.
