The history between Welsh rugby and the Barbarians is legendary—from the 1973 “Greatest Try” to Alun Wyn Jones’ recent farewell.

Whether it is Welshmen and women representing the club or lining up against it, that history is rich in the game.  As we look forward to the next chapter, the double header v Wales in June we hear from some Welsh greats about what playing for the Barbarians meant to them

Sir Gareth Edwards “There was always an aura about playing for the Barbarians… Everyone wanted to play for the Barbarians. It was right up there with the Lions.”

Alun Wyn Jones “It’s an honour to wear the famous Black & White jersey… it has created some of the best rugby moments in our game.”

Cliff Morgan “If the greatest writer of the written word would’ve written that story, no one would have believed it.” (The legendary commentary on the 1973 Welsh-inspired Baa-Baas try.)

Elinor Snowsill “The Barbarians spirit is about flair, skill, and camaraderie… it’s a measure of our rich history.”
