"This tradition, this change, this wonderful new vibe that’s sweeping through the world game, is being driven by you,” he told the team.

"There are so many wonderful talented individuals in this room that have shattered records, won World Cups, but this takes on a new mantle.

"Tomorrow is something that allows you to leave for the Barbarians this wonderful new environment that is open to everybody.

"You are also leaving something for a country that is building and growing and a wonderful new frontier for rugby.

"You have an opportunity to leave something for the sport.”

Each player receives the Gilbert jersey with the names of the greats of the game who have played in each position etched into the shirt numbers.
