Tour Overseas

The Barbarians have also had their tours abroad, to Canada in 1957 and 1976 and South Africa in 1958 and 1969. During the 90s the club have visited the former Soviet Union in 1992, playing their top club side, Krasny Yar in Siberia, and the C.I.S. National side in Moscow. Then in 1994 the Barbarians returned to Africa with a short tour of Zimbabwe, playing Goshawks, Matabeleland and the Zimbabwe national side.

The club made its first visit to Japan in June 1996 to play two matches against Kobe, as a fund raising event for the earthquake relief operation, and a President's XV in Kyoto, followed in June 1997 with a visit to Italy to play club sides Lupi in Rome and Zebres in Milan.

In 1998 they played three matches against the South American Barbarians on a visit to Argentina followed two years later by visiting Germany for the first time to play a match to celebrate the centenary of the German Rugby Union.

In the new Millennium the pioneering tours have increased at a pace. The Barbarians have now visited 23 countries, as follows:
