Michael Alan Burton

Michael Alan Burton first played for the Barbarians on the 1972 Easter tour of south Wales. Later that year he returned to play against Llanelli in that club's centenary season.Born in Maidenhead on 18 December 1945 and educated at Longevens School, he was a stalwart of the Gloucester club and county packs for many years. He also represented several combined XVs against international touring teams - Western Counties against New Zealand in 1972 and Australia in 1975, the South & South-West combination that defeated Australia in 1973, and Gloucestershire against Japan in 1976. Between 1972 and 1978 he won 17 caps at prop for England. In 1974 he toured South Africa with the British Isles and played in eight matchess. He later became a players' agent and developed a very successful sports travel and hospitality company. In 2005 he joined the Barbarians' committee and is now responsible for its commercial contracts and player recruitment. See also - Roll of Honour : Profiles.
