David John Duckham

David John Duckham was born in Coventry on 28 June 1946 and educated at King Henry VIII School before a career in banking. He played at centre and wing for Coventry and between 1969 and 1976 played 36 internationals for England - 14 at centre and 22 on the wing - and scored 10 tries. In 1971 he toured Australasia with the British Isles, playing in 17 matches, including three tests. Six of his 11 Lions' tries were scored in one match against West Coast & Buller XV. His scoring exploits were also evident for the Barbarians : five tries against Leicester in 1969 and 19 in a total of 20 appearances. David Duckham also toured South Africa with the Barbarians in 1969 and played against New Zealand in 1973 and 1974 and South Africa, Scotland and Fiji in 1970. He captained the Barbarians against Penarth in 1974.
