GORDON Ross will play at Heriot's for the first time in 13 years when he lines up for the Barbarians at Goldenacre this month.

ROSS RETURNS TO HERIOT'S
The London Welsh fly half is one of four Scotland internationals called up by coach Sean Lineen to celebrate the Edinburgh club’s 125th anniversary in the Investec Cup match on April 21 (6pm).
He will be joined by another former Heriot’s player in the shape of Cardiff prop Bruce Douglas, lock Scott MacLeod returns from Newcastle Falcons, scrum half Grayson Hart is borrowed from Edinburgh, and Lineen also brings in former Scotland Under 20 scrum half Ali Price from Glasgow Warriors.
Ross, 37, is bringing down the curtain on a playing career which saw him win 25 Scotland caps between 2001 and 2006. He plans to move into coaching full time next season.
“The next step for me is to establish myself at a high level in coaching after the last couple of years when I’ve been taking a player-coaching role at London Welsh,” he said.
George Heriot’s is where it all began for Ross first as schoolboy and then with the Former Pupils club.
"I went to school at Heriot's from the age of 11 and it’s where I got into rugby,” he said. "From then I played for the FPs for four years and a couple more when I was a professional with Edinburgh.
"The last time I would have played there was in 2002, I think, and while I’ll probably recognise lots of old faces, I won’t know so many of the young ones - but I enjoyed playing alongside Phil Smith who’s now coaching them.
"There’s a great tradition at Heriot's - you only have to look at the international boards to see how many have gone on to the highest level - and you’re always sure of a warm welcome at Goldenacre.”
In all, the Barbarians plan to field capped players from at least six different nations and Lineen’s squad will be confirmed shortly.
