Lineen to coach club at Heriot's

SEAN Lineen will coach the Barbarians team when they take on Heriot’s next month to celebrate the Edinburgh club’s 125th anniversary, as well as being the opening event of the Barbarians' own 125th anniversay year.
Lineen, a Grand Slam winner with Scotland in 1990, will be joined by U20s assistant coach John Dalziel in running the side with former Scotland scrum half Rory Lawson acting as team manager.
The Barbarians will name their squad next month and are set to call on capped players from half-a-dozen countries.
Lineen said: “It is a massive honour to coach the Barbarians against a really proud Scottish club.
“With a team like the Barbarians it’s more like facilitating than coaching. You give the players some pointers, but you want to empower them to play free-flowing rugby. There will be a lot of tries scored from both teams, I can assure you of that.”
Dalziel played against the Barbarians the last time they came to Scotland - in October 2011 - for the South of Scotland, who won 22-15 that day in Hawick.
Dalziel said: “It’s a great honour to coach the BaaBaas, who are a team steeped in tradition. There is a culture of expansive rugby with the Barbarians and we will have a team that has an exciting blend of players.
“Heriot’s are a team who like to play an expansive game, so this match will be a great advert for Scottish club rugby and a celebration of Heriot’s and the Barbarians’ 125th anniversaries.”
Heriot’s are currently top of the BT Premiership league table and many of their players have represented Scotland, with Andy Irvine capped 51 times.
They provided an entire front row for the Barbarians in 1989 when the Milne brothers Kenny, Iain and David appeared together against the East Midlands.
