Trust supports Bill McLaren Foundation

The Barbarians Rugby Charitable Trust has made a donation of £10,000 to the Bill McLaren Foundation.
The Club saw the occasion of the visit to Hawick to play against South of Scotland as the ideal opportunity to offer this support. At the pre-match lunch Andy Irvine proposed a toast to the Barbarians to which committeeman Derek Quinnell responded.
On receipt of the donation, Scottish Rugby Union vice-president and son-in-law of the late Bill McLaren warmly thanked the Barbarians for their support and for also coming to Mansfield Park for the first time.
Jim Thompson, Edinburgh full-back and grandson of the legendary commentator, captained the Barbarians who led 15-3 after half-an-hour before a well-organised and spirited South team took the honours 22-15.
