Nick Mallett accepts invitations for next season
The Barbarians have invited Nick Mallett to prepare the sides for three historic fixtures in 2010-11.
He will coach separate Barbarians' squads for the matches against South Africa, Richmond and Bedford Blues.
For the MasterCard Trophy match against South Africa at Twickenham on 4 December 2010 Mallett will again be assisted by Alan Solomons. Last December the pair masterminded the Barbarians' 25-18 triumph against New Zealand on the same ground.
They will be hoping for similar success on an occasion that also marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Club's legendary victory over the hitherto unbeaten Springboks at the end of their 31-match tour of Europe in 1960-61.
Early in 2011 Mallett returns to coach the Barbarians against one of his former clubs, Richmond. The match at the Athletic Ground on 12 April will celebrate the host club's 150th anniversary season.
Seven days later he will complete a unique hat-trick when the Barbarians play Bedford Blues in the 84th Mobbs Memorial Match.
Barbarians' president Micky Steele-Bodger said, "Our committee are delighted that Nick Mallett has accepted the invitation to take charge of the sides for three separate but equally significant fixtures.
"A former Barbarian player in his own right and already a coach of world renown, Nick made a big impression in the week that he was with us last December and we had no hesitation in inviting him back. We know that he understands the traditions of the Club and its historic fixtures and he is the ideal person to be with us again next season."
