Quintin Geldenhuys was born in Kieksdorp, South Africa, on 19 June 1981 and educated at Monument High School. He played at lock for Natal,the Pumas and South Africa under-21 before joining Viadana in Italy in 2005. Having qualified on residency he gained his first cap for Italy in 2009. In 2010 he joined Aironi and by August 2011 had played in 22 internationals.
