David John Lyons was born in Orange, New South Wales, on 15 June 1980 and educated at Molong Central School. He played at number 8 for the Waratahs before joining the Scarlets in Llanelli where he was club captain in 2010/11. In September 2011 he joined Stade Francais in Paris. Between 2000 and 2007 David Lyons scored four tries in 44 tsets for Australia and played in the Rugby World Cup in 2003 and 2007. In 2001 he played for Australia against the Barbarians at the Millennium Stadium and in 2009 joined the Barbarians in Sydney to play against the Wallabies.
