Christopher Robert Andrew was born in Richmond, Yorkshire, on 18 February 1963 and educated at Barnard Castle School, Durham University, and Cambridge University where he gained three rugby Blues (1982-84) and cricket Blues. He played for Nottingham, Gordon (in Sydney), Toulouse, Wasps and Newcastle and later became director of rugby for Newcastle Falcons. Rob Andrew scored 396 points in 71 internationals for England between 1985 and 1997. As well as becoming the most-capped fly-half he played one match at full-back in 1988. On the British Isles tours to Australia in 1989 and New Zealand in 1993 he played in 13 matches, including five tests, and scored 40 points. He captained the Barbarians against Leicester in 1990 and Australia in 1996 and at the Hong Kong Sevens in 1990. He worked for the Rugby Football Union as Director of Elite Rugby and in March 2011 as Director of Rugby Operations.
